Qatar is set to experience a remarkable celebration of choral music with the 2nd Philippine Choral Festival, aptly titled "Harmonic Horizons: Voices in Unity.”
This much-anticipated event will showcase the beauty of choral music in the Middle East on September 6, 2024, 5pm (Doors open at 4pm) at Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC), Auditorium 3.
The festival will feature a stellar lineup of performances by Maharlikans Vocal Ensemble Philippines (MVEP) also known as "The Maharlikans” as major performers.
MVEP will share the stage with Qatar Concert Choir (QCC), Liahona Doha Singers (LDS), The Sacred Voices (TSV), The Doha Players and TO.Pi - Tanghalang Overseas Pinoy (TOPi) as guest performers.
In collaboration with Funon Events, the event promises an unforgettable night of musical magic, where diverse voices come together in harmony.
About the Maharlikans
The Maharlikans group is a beacon of Filipino musical tradition, renowned for its seamless fusion of voices that captures the essence of the vibrant tapestry of Philippine musical heritage.
Established in 2016, the group is driven by a profound commitment to cultural and artistic excellence. The choir’s repertoire, which spans traditional and modern Filipino compositions, captivates music connoisseurs from both local and international communities.
The first Filipino community choir to be recognised and certified by the Philippine Embassy in Qatar, MVEP is also a member of Qatar Philharmonic Chorus.
Among the group’s notable achievements include: first Place in the Qatar National Music Competition (Adult Mixed Choir Category), recipient of the Dutch Music for Peace Award, presented by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, and a featured performance at the inauguration of the Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani Museum.
Additionally, MVEP was recognised at China’s Doha Music Week Expo, receiving the Best Art Performance award. The group also performed their rendition of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, in collaboration with the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and the Qatar Concert Chorus.
