MD Studio set the Bricks Doha ablaze on August 22, with its "Sober Summer Kick-Off,” a showcase of Filipino local bands featuring energy-infused performances and bringing together the rich musical talent of the Filipino community.

The night featured electrifying sets from: Thursday Carnival, Sons of Edu, Jeprox Na Punk, Bethrone, Tsirubrak and Exhorts.

Headlining the event was Sober, formerly known as "Stay Sober.” This Filipino band is also recognised for its Hard Rock and Nu Metal hits.

Sober band, whose name reflects a positive and realistic approach to life, delivered an engaging tribute to the iconic Filipino band Slapshock, with renditions of their classic tracks.

The band’s performance of "Kabanata” has resonated with many, becoming a staple on Qabayan Radio 94.3 and ranking among the Top 10 Most Requested Songs.

The song reflects the struggles of those who, despite challenges, strive to achieve their dreams, including Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who persevere for their families.

Members of Sober include: Jepoi, Mike, Drillon, Richard and Edward.

Special guest Richard Del Rosario, the original guitarist on the band’s Kabanata hit song, joined the group for a memorable set.

The Sober Summer Kick-Off was more than just a concert. It was a testament to the enduring spirit and passion of Filipino musicians, providing a lively platform for Pinoy musical talent.
