CAIRO/Gaza

Relentless Israeli attacks across Gaza have killed at least 59 Palestinians since dawn on Saturday, as more than 100,000 people have been forced to evacuate Deir el-Balah in central Gaza.

Victims of hostilities over the past 48 hours remained lying on roads where fighting continued or trapped under rubble, according to the Palestinian health authorities.

The preliminary death toll from the Israeli shelling in various regions of the central and southern Gaza Strip since Saturday morning has risen to 38, adding that 11 Palestinians from one family were martyred and others were injured, following an Israeli bombardment on a densely populated home in Amal neighborhood in Khan Younis city south of the Gaza enclave.

Additionally, 11 Palestinians were martyred in Israeli shelling in Al-Katiba area in central Khan Younis, while a Palestinian was martyred, and others were injured because of gunfire from the occupation forces targeting displaced persons’ camps west of Khan Younis.

The sources stated that the that occupation drones fired at the displaced persons’ camps east of Deir Al-Balah, resulting in the death of one person and injuring five others. Additionally, the artillery shelling in the Hikr Al-Jama’a area of the same city resulted in injuries to several Palestinians.

At least 40,334 people have been killed and 93,356 wounded in Israel’s war on Gaza. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks on October 7.

Meanwhile, a Hamas delegation arrived on Saturday to be nearer at hand to review any proposals that emerge in the main talks between Israel and the mediating countries Egypt, Qatar and the United States, two Egyptian security sources said.

Months of on-off talks have failed to produce a breakthrough to end Israel’s devastating military campaign in Gaza or free the remaining hostages seized by Hamas in the militant group’s Oct. 7 attack that triggered the war.
