The Overseas Community Global (Qatar) organised an event to celebrate Pakistan’s Independence Day, at the Al Qamar Al-Abyed Restaurant.

The programme commenced with the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran by POCG General Secretary Qatar Abdullah Tarar. Munawar Alam compered the event in his own unique style. A special cake was cut to mark the event.

POCG President Qatar Ikram Hussain Butt welcomed the guests and spoke about the significance of independence Day. He paid glowing tributes to the leaders of Pakistan Movement. He said: "We have got Pakistan as a gift and as a reward of decades of struggles and untold miseries suffered by our forefathers. Being the guardians of freedom we are responsible for working for tomorrow. The hard tasks always require great sacrifices.

"We have to stand against all of the problems being faced by our motherland. We pledge that we will sacrifice everything for the uplift of our beloved country.”

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by POCG Qatar Youth Wing President Khawaja Asif Ismail.

Prominent among those who attended the event were Ejaz Inayat, Shahnaz Ahmed, Mehran Abbasi, Mohammad Rafiullah, Usman Amir, Rizwan Kayani, Nadeem Butt, Faisal Kayani, Hassam Rasheed, Taimur Sattar, Waqar Mughal and Nasir Ishaq.
