Harry Kane received the Golden Shoe award as the best scorer in Europe on Tuesday and now wants to win trophies as well with Bayern Munich.

Kane scored 44 goals in all competitions in his debut season at Bayern, 36 of them in the Bundesliga, but Bayern had to go through a first season without silverware since 2012 despite the accuracy of the England captain.

Kane said at the ceremony at Munich’s club museum he hopes this will change in the new campaign.

“I want to carry on the way I started last season, but the important thing is that we win trophies. We want to claim successes as a team,” he said.

“I feel very good and am looking forward to the new season. I sense a new energy and I’m looking forward to seeing where it leads.” Kane is yet to win a major club trophy in his career. He arrived last year for ?100 million ($112 million) from Tottenham Hotspur and is now the third Bayern player to win the Golden Shoe, following Gerd Müller and Robert Lewandowski.

“It was always my dream to play football at a higher level. To be mentioned in the same breath as these names is very special. It’s always about how I can help the team and the club,” he said.

“It’s a fantastic feeling. I can only thank the club, my team-mates.

The award is for everyone - without you I wouldn’t be standing here.”

Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said that Kane had “seamlessly fitted into the tradition of great goalscorers” at the club and was “very valuable, also for the Bundesliga. The league is more attractive thanks to him.

“Harry is a 360-degree striker, a player who also sees his team-mates. Kane is more than a goalscorer; he’s a leader, a role model and sacrifices himself for the team. He’s conquered the hearts of our fans,” Dreesen added.
