ZINsters Qatar marked its fifth anniversary with an exhilarating Zumbathon held on August 23, at Michael E. DeBakey High School Qatar.
The event highlighted the group’s commitment to fitness and community spirit, featuring an electrifying lineup of activities and drawing an enthusiastic crowd who spent their weekend celebrating this milestone.
ZINsters, a Filipino group based in Qatar, is a portmanteau of “ZIN” (Zumba Instructor Network) and “sters,” a suffix of the word ‘sisters,’ reflecting the close bond among its all-female founders.
The group’s core members include licensed Zumba instructors Janice Magsalin (Zin Barbie), Morena Altura (Zin Morena) and Arlene Valin (Zin Arlene).
The anniversary event was a highlight in ZINsters’ history, as ZINsters has been a cornerstone of the Filipino community in Qatar, offering dynamic Zumba dance fitness classes.
The event continued the success of last year’s anniversary celebration, which featured Filipino celebrity Zumba instructor Wowie de Guzman, who inspired more than 400 participants with his Zumba skills during a 4-hour Zumba-thon.
This year’s Zumbathon brought the community together once again, reinforcing ZINsters’ role as a key player in promoting health and fitness among Filipinos in Qatar.
“We are thrilled to celebrate this milestone with our community,” said ZINsters’ lead instructors. “We invite everyone to join our regular Zumba classes and participate in our themed events,” they added.
ZINsters Qatar is committed to promoting health and fitness of its members and the broader community. “Health is wealth. As OFWs, it is crucial for us to prioritize our well-being to support our families and achieve our goals,” the group stressed.
Looking ahead, the team is planning more exciting activities and events to engage members and welcome new participants.
Currently, the group organizes a Zumba event every Friday at City Gym Abu Hamour, from 7:30am to 9am.
