A new consignment of humanitarian aid from Qatar Charity (QC) has arrived in the Gaza Strip, thanks to the generosity of donors in Qatar. The aid, consisting of 21,500 food parcels, is currently being distributed to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in northern Gaza. This aid is expected to benefit over 129,000 individuals amid the worsening humanitarian crisis.

The aid arrived just in time to help address the significant food shortage and rising famine rates in the Gaza Strip. United Nations agencies have warned of the dire consequences of the food crisis, with the World Food Programme (WFP) reporting in July that half a million people in Gaza are experiencing catastrophic levels of hunger.

The food parcels contain essential supplies, with each parcel being sufficient for a family for an entire month.

This batch of aid was sent through QC’s office in Jordan in the first half of August, via 39 convoys in collaboration with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO).

Mana Al-Ansari, director of the Emergency and Relief Department at QC, participated in the aid delivery process, accompanied by Saleh Al-Marri, general supervisor of QC office in Jordan.

Mana Al-Ansari stated, “This aid is a continuation of Qatar Charity’s efforts since the onset of the war on Gaza to support our brothers and sisters in Gaza and alleviate their immense humanitarian suffering. We aim to provide essential supplies, including food, medicine, and shelter.”

Al-Ansari added, “We reaffirm our steadfast support for the people of Gaza by providing all possible aid. We also appreciate JHCO’s efforts in delivering the aid to those in need.”

QC’s office in Jordan has dispatched numerous aid shipments to Gaza since the beginning of the current crisis. The total number of food parcels has reached approximately 40,000, along with nearly 15 tonnes of medicines and medical supplies.

It is worth mentioning that UNRWA and QC have recently signed an agreement, in Amman, Jordan for $3 million to help deliver lifesaving assistance to people in need in Gaza. In addition to the financial contribution, Qatar Charity will donate 6,500 food parcels for families in Gaza.
