DOHA: The National Planning Council has released the 127th issue of Qatar: Monthly Statisticsbulletin, a series of statistical newsletters released every month. This issue highlighted the most important statistical changes that occurred in the country during July 2024 in addition to extracts from the results of the 2020 Census.
Among the notable changes in this issue is the monthly increase in total commercial bank deposits and facilities by 0.1 percentand 0.9 percent, respectively (compared to June 2024), and an annual increase of 11.3 percentand 7.4 percent, respectively (compared to July 2023). In addition, there was a monthly increase in the value of traded stocks by 5.2 percent(compared to June 2024), along with an increase in the General Market Index (point) by 1.9 percent(compared to June 2024).
The demographic statistics revealed that the total population of Qatar has increased from 2.704 million in July 2023 to 2.788 million in July 2024 at an annual increase rate of change of 3.1 percent, and decreased monthly by 2.5 percent(compared to June 2024).
Regarding Vital Statistics, 2501 live births have been registered during July 2024. Also, an increase in the total Qatari live births by 2.2 percentcompared to last month. On the other hand, 221 deaths were recorded during the same period, an increase of 17.6 percent compared to June 2024.
Moreover, July 2024 witnessed a monthly decrease of 0.3 percentof total marriage contracts while it witnessed a monthly increase of 93.7 percentin total divorce certificates. The total number of marriage contracts reached 348 marriage contracts and the total number of divorce certificates reached 244 cases.
The Social Security statementsreached QR77mn in July 2024, for 14,385 beneficiaries, recording a monthly increase of 0.3 percentfor the value of social security and a monthly increase of 0.2 percentfor the number of beneficiaries of Social Security.
As for the Banking Sector; Total Broad Money Supply (M2) recorded about QR727bn during July 2024, an annual increase of 6.4 percentcompared with July 2023. On the other hand, cash equivalents, including Commercial Bank Deposits, attained QR1033bn during July 2024. The figure has recorded an annual increase of 11.3 percentcompared to July 2023, when deposits recorded approximately QR928bn.
Regarding the data on building permits issued, the total number of permits has reached 741 permits during July 2024, recording a monthly increase of 36.5 percentand an annual increase of 16.9 percent.
The total number of registered new vehicles during July 2024 has reached 7,733 new vehicles. The figure showed a monthly increase of 22.1 percentand it showed an annual increase of 25.8 percent.
Traffic accident cases without counting the accidents without injuries, a total of 602 traffic cases were recorded during July 2024, showing a monthly decrease of 7.0 percentand an annual increase of 1.2 percent. Light injuries accounted for most traffic accident cases during the same month, with 95 percent, followed by severe injuries at 4 percent. However, six deaths were recorded, equivalent to only 1 percentof total traffic accident cases.
As for tourism, the total number of inbound visitors reached about 317,000, recording a monthly increase of 0.4 percent(compared to June 2024) and recorded an annual increase of 10.2 percent(compared to July 2023). The highest number of visitors was from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at 46 percent. As for visitors by type of port, the visitors via Air make up the highest percentage with 59 percentof the total number of visitors.
