QatarEnergy has announced a major solar power project that will more than double Qatar’s solar energy production capacity, significantly advancing Qatar’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions. The new Dukhan Solar Power Plant, set to become one of the world’s largest solar power facilities, will add 2,000 megawatts of capacity, boosting Qatar’s total PV solar power production to

about 4,000 megawatts by 2030. The announcement

was made by Minister of State for Energy Affairs and QatarEnergy President and CEO HE Saad Sherida Al Kaabi during a press conference at QatarEnergy’s headquarters in Doha. Minister Al Kaabi highlighted the project’s alignment with Qatar’s Sustainability Strategy, emphasising its role in reducing CO2 emissions by over 4.7 million tonnes annually. —Satyendra Pathak page 8
