The visit of His Highness the Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Sweden is part of the distinguished relations between the two countries and it will pave the way for new horizons of joint cooperation, especially in trade and economic fields, Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani has said.

Sheikh Khalifa emphasized that Qatar and Sweden enjoy close cooperation at various levels, with a particular focus on trade and economic relations. He pointed out the importance of mutual visits by officials and business delegations, which have fostered the signing of numerous agreements and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in diverse sectors. These efforts have contributed to the remarkable development in bilateral trade andeconomic ties.

The QC chairman noted that trade exchange between Qatar and Sweden reached approximately QR1.55 billion in 2023, up from QR866 million in 2022, representing an impressive growth rate of 79 percent. This significant increase reflects the strong commitment of both countries to boost trade exchanges through mutual investments and collaborative projects. Sheikh Khalifa reiterated that there is ample potential to further expand economic relations, encouraging the pursuit of joint ventures and trade partnerships.

Highlighting the investment climate in Qatar, Sheikh Khalifa urged Swedish companies to seize the opportunities available in the Qatari market. He emphasized Qatar’s status as a leading global center for business and investment, underpinned by world-class infrastructure, a favorable business environment, and supportive economic regulations that encourage foreign investment. Key among these is the allowance for up to 100 percent foreign ownership in various sectors, making Qatar an attractive destination for international investors.

Sheikh Khalifa also highlighted the presence of numerous Swedish companies operating in Qatar, either independently or in partnership with Qatari institutions. These companies are active across a range of sectors, contributing to the Qatari economy and reflecting the depth of bilateral cooperation. He expressed the Qatari private sector’s keen interest in enhancing collaboration with its Swedish counterpart, exploring opportunities for establishing trade alliances and joint industrial projects.

In conclusion, Sheikh Khalifa underscored that the Amir’s visit to Sweden symbolizes the strong and evolving relationship between the two nations, providing a robust platform for further collaboration and mutual prosperity. The visit is expected to catalyze new investments, bolster trade ties, and foster closer economic integration between Qatar and Sweden in the years to come.
