Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE) Maha Al Ruwaili has emphasised that the ministry will adopt, through the launch of its new strategy, a comprehensive and integrated approach to improving the quality of education in Qatar and expanding access to it, with a focus on ensuring sustainability and innovation in its educational system.

Ruwaili described the strategy as ambitious, saying that it includes 14 goals to improve the quality of education and 24 strategic programmes within four axes related to the different stages of education, starting from pre-primary education and education from the first to the 12th grade, then post-secondary education and continuing education, while the fifth axis focuses on supporting the education system through a set of its enablers.

She pointed out that the educational system’s capabilities include strategic programmes aimed at preparing national cadres, attracting and retaining distinguished talents, improving the overall governance of the education system, disseminating data, and strengthening local and international partnerships.

She added that stimulating investment in education, in addition to using resources efficiently to achieve high-quality results are among the things targeted by these programmes.

Ruwaili noted that the ministry’s strategy 2024-2030 will contribute to developing the education system in Qatar through strategic programmes, which in turn contribute to achieving several goals, including providing equal educational opportunities for all students in these grades, developing their cognitive abilities and skills in line with future requirements, enhancing curricula and aligning learning resources and methodologies with the skills and knowledge required to be mastered.

Other focus include upgrading academic and vocational guidance methodologies, including smooth educational paths for all students, accelerating the paths of the gifted and providing them with the possibility of early planning for the higher education stage, as well as developing the performance of government schools to raise the level of education outcomes for all grades by updating the school supervision model and increasing the competencies of school leadership to improve operations management, she said.

Ruwaili noted the importance of the strategy for partners in the educational and pedagogical process, and summarised it in cooperation with the local community, as it works to enhance cooperation with parents and the local community to support the educational process.

She noted that the goals the strategy seeks to achieve are comprehensive for all areas of the educational process, including, but not limited to, access to high-quality education and improving the level of services provided by kindergartens and nurseries.

She added that the ministry also seeks, through its strategy, to support the digital learning process, stressing that excellence in digital education at all levels represents one of the main objectives of the MoEHE’s strategy.

She pointed to enhancing the digital skills of teachers and students and digitising and managing educational content for all subjects and academic levels interactively and attractively.
