In another good outing at the at the 5th Islamic Solidarity Games on Wednesday, Qatar track and field athletes won one gold and two bronze medals excelling at the Konya Metropolitan Stadium.Abu Bakr Abdullah won the 800m gold, second gold of the event for Qatar. Abdullah clocked 1:47:59s to finish ahead of Sadam Koumi of Sudan (1:48:14s) and Hafid Rizqy of Morocco (1:48:22s). Qatar’s Musab Ali claimed the 3000m steeplechase bronze with a timing of 9:02:53s finishing behind Morocco’s Abderrafia Bouassel (8:57.92s) and Djibouti’s Mohamed Ismail Ibrahim (8:58.92s). In the women’s taekwondo event, Qatar’s Maram Al Fatnasy won bronze in the 67kg category.Bassem Hemeida had won Qatar’s first gold medal at Games in the 400m hurdles on Tuesday.The 5th Islamic Solidarity Games which opened on Tuesday (August 9) continue till August 18.
