The Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), in collaboration with Studio 5 and the National Museum of Qatar (NMoQ), successfully concluded the 2024 Summer Art and Technology Camp. The camp, which catered to 66 participants aged 7 to 24 years, offered a diverse range of hands-on workshops that allowed young participants to explore the intersection of art and technology.

The camp aimed to create a dynamic learning environment where participants could master essential technological skills.

Throughout the workshops, they engaged in designing video games, creating digital artworks with cutting-edge technologies, and even developing wearable tech. Participants learned to turn their ideas into tangible projects, blending art and technology through activities like digital art creation using simple programming and exploring bioengineering to produce dyes.

Nouf Abdulaziz Al-Haddad, senior project coordinator at MCIT, expressed her satisfaction with the collaboration, stating, “We are pleased to collaborate with the National Museum of Qatar to provide opportunities for young creatives to engage with advanced technologies.

“This collaboration allows us to offer valuable hands-on experiences that enhance their creativity and technological skills.”

She further emphasised that the camp environment encouraged participants to push the boundaries of their imagination, empowering them to become leaders in the ever-evolving digital world.

Fatima Al-Kuwari, deputy director of learning and outreach at the NMoQ, echoed this sentiment, saying, “We are thrilled to collaborate with Studio 5 for this year’s summer camp. This collaboration reflects our shared commitment to fostering creativity and exploration among the youth. Together we are creating an engaging environment that will inspire the next generation. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Studio 5 and offering more opportunities for creative growth and engagement in our community.”

Participants shared their excitement about the camp, describing it as an experience that stimulated their creativity and deepened their understanding of technology. One participant noted,

“The camp gave me the skills and confidence to turn my creative ideas into reality. We had the chance to undertake projects from our imagination and creativity.” Another added, “It was fascinating to see how technology can be used creatively and to share these experiences with a group of like-minded, passionate individuals.”
