Minister of Finance HE Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari headed Qatar’s delegation at the 114th session of the Arab Economic and Social Council, held at the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Egypt. The Ministerial Meeting focused on several crucial economic and social issues affecting the Arab world.

Key items on the agenda included discussions on the Greater Arab Free Trade Area, updates on the Arab Customs Union, and a review of the progress made on decisions from the previous session (113) of the Economic and Social Council. The session also addressed the Arab food security strategy, measures to support the Palestinian economy, and other significant economic and social topics.

Ahead of the ministerial session, a series of preparatory meetings were held, including a senior officials’ meeting and two separate meetings by the Social and Economic Committees of the Council. The State of Qatar was actively represented in these discussions by a delegation from the Ministry of Finance, demonstrating Qatar’s commitment to enhancing regional economic cooperation.

Qatar’s participation in the session reflects its ongoing efforts to collaborate with other Arab states on enhancing economic integration, improving food security, and supporting social development initiatives across the region. The outcomes of this session are expected to influence future policies and strengthen economic ties among member states.
