Rio DE JANEIRO: The co-pilot spoke of de-icing issues before a plane crash that resulted in 62 fatalities in Brazil in August, according to a preliminary report presented on Friday by the Centre for Investigation and Prevention of Aviation Accidents (CENIPA).

The investigators did not provide any information on the possible cause of the crash.

The crew had talked about issues with the aircraft’s de-icing system, said CENIPA investigator Paulo Mendes Fróes. Two minutes before the crash, the co-pilot had spoken of “a lot of icing” according to a recovered cockpit recording.

The aircraft belonging to the airline Voepass crashed on August 9 while flying from Cascavel in the state of Paraná to São Paulo, shortly before reaching its destination, into a residential area of the city of Vinhedo.

All 58 passengers and four crew members were killed. (DPA)
