The big 5-0 win against Hungary to kick off the new Nations League season gave Germany a boost of confidence ahead of the match against a very stable Netherlands side on Tuesday.

But the players recognize that the game in Amsterdam against the Euro 2024 semi-finalists will be very different. The Netherlands are also coming off a big 5-2 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“It’s another opponent, a strong opponent. The Dutch are different from Hungary, they will be a tougher opponent. It will be interesting to see how we will act,” captain Joshua Kimmich said.

Forward Niclas Füllkrug stressed that the Netherlands are “a top team with a lot of top players from big clubs,” but “they know now what’s coming their way.”

The team wants to bring the energy from the match against Hungary into the upcoming challenge, midfielder Jamal Musiala said.

The Bayern Munich man had a stunning performance on Saturday, with one goal and three assists.

But the biggest lesson from the home game against Hungary, according to coach Julian Nagelsmann, was that there’s a great chemistry within the squad and between the team and the fans.

“This team has the desire to win games, the fans can see that. The chemistry, this group, make the entire difference. We have the chance to be better on sporting terms,” Nagelsmann said.

Due to Euro 2024 on home soil, the trip to Amsterdam will mark the first away match for Germany since the 2-0 win in France in March.

“When was our last away game again?” Kimmich had to ask. And when the answer came, he said: “There you go. There’s nothing to worry about.”
