In a landmark move towards environmental sustainability, QNB Group, the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, has partnered with DHL Express, the global leader in logistics, to implement Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for its shippingoperations.

This collaboration positions QNB Group as one of the first institutions in Qatar to adopt sustainable shipping solutions, reflecting its commitment to reducing carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly business practices.

The agreement with DHL is part of the GoGreen Plus initiative, which enables companies to reduce their carbon footprint by integrating SAF into their supply chain. Through this partnership, QNB Group aims to cut CO2 emissions by 50 percent for all express air shipments, supporting its broader sustainability goals and aligning with Qatar’s national vision for environmental stewardship.

By incorporating SAF, QNB not only lowers its environmental impact but also offers clients climate-neutral shipping options with precise CO2 emissions calculations.

Key benefits of the partnership include SGS Certification to ensure compliance with the highest standards of sustainability and the provision of eco-friendly transportation solutions, including the use of an electric vehicle exclusively for QNB during service provision. Additionally, DHL will provide envelopes and parcels made entirely from recycled materials, further enhancing the green credentials of QNB’s shipping services.

Expressed pride in the collaboration, QNB Group Projects & General Services Division Senior Executive Vice President Yousef Ali Al Darwish said, “We are excited to be the first company in Qatar to adopt SAF in collaboration with DHL, setting a precedent for other businesses to follow. This partnership allows us to provide sustainable services within Qatar during shipment delivery, highlighting our dedication to innovative and responsible business practices.”

The integration of SAF is part of QNB’s larger environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, demonstrating the bank’s leadership in sustainable finance and eco-friendly initiatives. By working with DHL, QNB is taking tangible steps to mitigate the environmental impact of its operations, aligning with global trends towards greener supply chains.

Welcoming QNB’s commitment to sustainable logistics, Country Manager of DHL Express Qatar Ahmed Elfangary said, “At DHL, we are committed to leading the way in sustainable logistics and environmental responsibility within our ESG framework. Now, we are empowering our customers to offset carbon emissions within their supply chain by investing in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), accessible via our GoGreen Plus product. By integrating GoGreen Plus into its operations, QNB is demonstrating its leadership in promoting eco-friendly practices within the financial sector.”

Elfangary further emphasised that the partnership represents a significant step towards driving positive environmental change in Qatar and beyond, as both QNB and DHL aim to inspire other companies to adopt sustainable business models.

QNB Group, recognised as the most valuable bank brand in the Middle East and Africa, operates in over 28 countries across three continents, providing a wide range of advanced financial products and services. With a workforce of more than 30,000 employees, 900 locations, and a network of 5,000 ATMs, QNB is dedicated to expanding its operations responsibly andsustainably.
