Qatar Industrial Manufacturing Company (QIMC) will be the diamond sponsor of the 'Made in Qatar 2018'exhibition in Oman, Qatar Chamber (QC) announced on Saturday.
QC Director General Saleh bin Hamad al Sharqi and QIMC CEO Abdul Rahman Abdulla al Ansari signed the sponsorship agreement in Doha recently, QC said in a statement.
The expo, scheduled to be held from Novermber 5-9 , will be organised by QC in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy and Industry and Qatar Development Bank (QDB) as strategic partner on an area of 10,000 sqm at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center (OCEC) in Muscat.
QIMC CEO said,"The company has been very keen to provide support to the exhibition from its first edition to help promote Qatari products abroad."
Ansari said,"Qatar's industrial sector has not been affected by the siege imposed on the country for more than a year. The sector has shown significant growth by taking advantage of a wide range of incentives and facilities offered by the Qatari government to boost the investment climate."
He hailed the strong economic ties between Qatar and Oman, which further increased after the launch of a direct shipping line between Hamad Port and Sohar Port, thereby increasing trade exchange between the two countries.
"Oman is a key trading partner of Qatar. Markets in both countries are attractive and encourage Qatari and Omani businessmen to boost trade,"he added.
QIMC, which started functioning in May 1990, has become one of the pioneering companies in the field of small and medium scale industries in Qatar within a short period of time.
QIMC has equity interest in 18 industrial projects including chemicals, petrochemicals, construction materials and food processing.
Sharqi said that QMIC's diamond sponsorship to the event proved the company's great interest in supporting and developing the national industry.
He commended the company's key role in supporting the industrial sector in the country.
"The expo represents a good opportunity for companies in both countries to explore means of enhancing cooperation. It is a platform for Qatari and Omani businessmen to discuss the investment opportunities galore in all sectors and establish trade alliances that benefit both economies,"Sharqi added.
He noted that Oman is an important trading partner of Qatar, topping Qatar's non-oil export destinations.
The expo is expected to see participation of over 200 companies and factories from Qatar.
The five-day expo aims at sharing Qatar's industrial sector expertise with Omani companies. The expo will also help to introduce Qatari products to Omani population. The expo opens up new foreign markets to Qatari companies in various large and small industries, QC said.
On the sidelines of the expo, a Qatari-Omani business forum will be organised to offer an opportunity for businessmen from both sides to discuss means of enhancing cooperation and establishing joint ventures.
