THE flag of Nigeria at the Embassy of Nigeria in Doha on Sunday was flown at half-mast to condole the death of Ambassador HE Bawa Abdullahi Wase.
Abdullahi Wase died in a hospital in Doha on Friday evening and was buried on Saturday.
An official of the embassy told Qatar Tribune that the flag had been flown at half-mast since Saturday.
A condolence register is officially opened at the embassy and his residence, to allow people wanting to pay tribute to the late ambassador.
Some of the ambassadors who signed their condolences on Sunday include Ambassador of Spain HE Ignacio Escobar, Ghanaian Ambassador HE Emmanuel Enos, German Ambassador HE Hans-Udo Muze and Tanzania's Ambassador HE Fatma Mohamed Rajab.
Meanwhile, Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his sadness over the death of Abdullahi Wase. The president's condolence message is contained in a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu, in Abuja, on Saturday.
While extending his condolences to the family members, the government and people of Plateau, Buhari praised the role played by the late ambassador in conflict resolution efforts in Plateau.
