Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), Qatar’s leading digital bank, played a key role as the Platinum Sponsor of the Union of Arab Banks’ (UAB) ‘Arab Banking Conference 2024,’ which concluded on September 11 in Doha.

Held under the esteemed patronage of Qatar Central Bank Governor Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al Thani, the conference brought together top economic and financial leaders, representatives from Arab banks, and key figures from financial institutions across the Arab world.

QIB’s sponsorship reinforced its commitment to leading digital banking transformation while addressing the urgent need for sustainable economic growth in the region. Speaking at the event, QIB Chief Strategy & Digital Officer Dinos Constantinides participated in a panel discussion that explored the intersection of Islamic finance principles and fintech solutions. He emphasised the importance of advancing financial inclusion, particularly for underserved communities, by promoting digital inclusion and expanding access to information.

Constantinides also highlighted QIB’s focus on supporting economic growth by providing SMEs and entrepreneurs with streamlined access to finance, enabled through technology. He elaborated on QIB’s development of innovative financial products and services aligned with sustainability goals, further reinforcing the bank’s commitment to integrating fintech into sustainable banking practices.

The conference featured key panels discussing essential topics such as sustainable development requirements, the financing gap in the Arab region, and the role of financial markets and institutions in fostering development. Climate finance and other sustainability-related challenges and opportunities were also in focus, with strong emphasis on the role of technology in addressing these issues.
