The death toll from Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip has exceeded 41,180, with over 95,000 people injured, the enclave’s health ministry said on Saturday.

“The death toll from Israeli aggression since October 7 has risen to 41,182, while 95,280 people have been injured,” the health ministry said in a statement.

Over the past 48 hours, 64 people were killed in Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip.

On Saturday, Israel’s military continued to pound Gaza, killing several Palestinians in attacks on Gaza City and Khan Younis, a day after at least 19 people died in assaults throughout the Strip.

The Palestinian Civil Defence said at least five people have been killed in an Israeli air attack on Shuhada al-Zeitoun School in Gaza City. It said among those killed were two children and a woman and efforts are ongoing to find survivors and recover bodies.

The Israeli military acknowledged that it carried out this attack, saying it hit a military command room at the school-turned-shelter for displaced people.

The Israeli military has issued a new order to displaced Palestinians in a designated block in eastern Beit Lahiya to immediately evacuate.

Avichay Adraee, the Arabic-language spokesman of the Israeli military, told Palestinians the area is “currently considered a dangerous combat zone”. The area includes al-Manshiya, Sheikh Zayed, and the Beit Lahiya project. “The evacuation does not include medical facilities in the area,” Adraee said.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces have shot and injured two Palestinians near the Tarqumiya military checkpoint west of Hebron, according to the Wafa news agency, which quoted security sources.

The Red Crescent transported them to hospital, the medical charity told Wafa, adding that one of the injured was in critical condition. Separately, the Israeli army arrested two people from Dura and Hadab al-Fawar south of Hebron after raiding several homes in the area, Wafa said.

The Lebanese armed group Hezbollah claimed an attack on another Israeli position. It said it targeted the Israeli army’s artillery positions at the Zaura site with rockets achieving a direct hit. (Agencies)
