DOHA: Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign AffairsDr Majed Al Ansari has highlighted Qatar’s ongoing efforts on the global stage to bring an end to the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

In a press briefing on Tuesday, Dr Al Ansariemphasised that Qatar remains deeply committed, both on a humanitarian and diplomatic level, to supporting the Palestinian people and fostering peace and stability in the region.

Dr Al Ansari shared that Qatar, with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani leading the charge, will actively participate in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly sessions, where the Gaza crisis will continue to be a focal point.

He didn’t mince words, calling the atrocities in Gaza a "blatant example of the failure of international justice”.

Dr Al Ansari reiterated that the two-state solution remains the only realistic path to peace, offering a way to end the violence and prevent further suffering of the Palestinian people.

He condemned the destruction of essential infrastructure in Gaza, particularly schools and hospitals, describing these acts as clear violations of international law.

He also noted Qatar's close coordination with regional partners, especially Egypt, to facilitate the delivery of much-needed humanitarian aid and ease the dire situation for civilians caught in the conflict.

Commenting on mediation efforts, Dr Al Ansari acknowledged that there are "no significant updates" at present, but stressed that Qatar remains deeply involved in efforts to broker a ceasefire.

Working closely with all international mediators, including the United States, Qatar is committed to ending the violence in Gaza. He underlined that the State of Qatar remains in constant communication with all relevant parties, seeking a peaceful resolution that would stop the bloodshed and bring relief to the people of Gaza.

Dr Al Ansari wrapped up by reiterating Qatar's unwavering dedication to using every diplomatic tool at its disposal to protect civilians and secure justice for the Palestinian people.

He called on the international community to step up and take meaningful action, urging world leaders to stop the atrocities happening in Gaza and to ensure accountability for those responsible.

In related news, as violence rages on, five Palestinians, including a young girl, lost their lives yesterday morning after Israeli airstrikes targeted areas in central and southern Gaza.

According to Palestinian news agency Wafa, medical sources confirmed that Israeli forces bombed several homes in Al Bureij refugee camp, leading to the deaths of four people, including a child. Rescue teams are still scrambling to save dozens who remain trapped beneath the rubble.

The airstrikes also claimed the life of another Palestinian who was hit while riding a bicycle in Khan Younis. Due to relentless bombardment, emergency teams are struggling to reach the injured and retrieve bodies, with many still trapped under debris or stranded in streets blocked by ongoing military operations.

Since the Israeli assault on Gaza began on October 7, 2023, over 41,226 Palestinians have been killed, most of them children and women. Another 95,413 have been wounded, as the humanitarian crisis worsens. Gaza’s infrastructure is crumbling under the weight of constant airstrikes, with essential services on the verge of collapse and medical supplies dwindling rapidly.

As the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza deepens, with the territory suffering under siege and widespread destruction, Qatar’s calls for urgent international action serve as a reminder of the crucial role diplomacy must play in resolving the crisis.
