Turkey has accused Israel of deliberately shooting and killing a Turkish-American activist during a protest in the

occupied West Bank,

citing a preliminary autopsy result.

Almost two weeks after the killing of Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, initial autopsy findings indicate that she was deliberately targeted, Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said in a written statement on his ministry website late Wednesday.

The Turkish claim contradicts a preliminary Israeli account, which said the 26-year-old was shot unintentionally by soldiers as the protest turned violent.

Minister Tunc alleged that Eygi had been deliberately targeted after she displayed a Palestinian flag at her graduation ceremony in the US.

This made her a target, Tunc argued, citing “evidence from the files” and without providing further details.

Tunc accused US President Joe Biden of being “totally biased” and of trying to cover up the case after the latter said Eygi`s killing might have been an accident.

Eygi’s body had also underwent autopsy by Palestinian authorities. (DPA)
