The International Day of University Sport is officially recognized by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the International University Sports Federation (FISU). This celebration aligns with the beginning of the academic year in many countries worldwide, aiming to strengthen the relationship between universities and their local communities through sports-focused activities that promote a sustainable, healthy lifestyle and foster communication among students globally.

On this occasion, Dr. Ibrahim Bin Saleh Al-Naimi, president of QCSF, emphasized that university sports play a vital role in promoting human and social values and are essential to building the generations of today and tomorrow.

He pointed out that Qatar is a leading nation in promoting sports culture and encouraging its practice across all segments of society, particularly within educational institutions at various levels. He noted that the celebration of the International Day of University Sport exemplifies the commitment to the values of tolerance, cooperation, peace, and love that sports represent.

QCSF secretary general Rashid Saeed Adiba commended the involvement of Qatari higher education institutions in this global sports event organised under the auspices of a UN body dedicated to education, science, and culture. Adiba said that sports would continue to serve as a crucial means of fostering unity among people and an effective tool for promoting human development.
