DOHA: In a striking display of unity, cultural pride, and heritage, the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Qatar hosted a grand celebration on Sunday to commemorate the 94th Saudi National Day.

Held at the Sheraton Hotel in Doha, the event brought together a distinguished audience of diplomats, officials, and Saudi nationals residing in or visiting Qatar, all eager to honour this momentous occasion marking the unification of the Kingdom by Late King Abdulaziz Al Saud in 1932.

The celebration was graced by the presence of His Highness Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Farhan Al Saud, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Qatar, alongside notable Qatari dignitaries, diplomats from various nations, and Saudi citizens.

The hall was alive with national pride as traditional Saudi music filled the air. The green and white colours of the Saudi flag draped the venue, symbolizing the Kingdom’s strength and unity.

In his opening remarks, Prince Mansour reflected on the significance of Saudi National Day, tracing the Kingdom’s journey from its unification to its current status as a regional leader in stability and growth.

Speaking to Qatar Tribune, Prince Mansour underscored the day’s importance, honouring the legacy of Late King Abdulaziz, the founding father who unified the Kingdom under the banners of faith, unity, and strength.

"Today, we continue to build on this legacy, guided by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Their leadership steers us toward a future of prosperity," Prince Mansour said.

He also emphasized the deep-rooted ties between Saudi Arabia and Qatar, noting that these connections are based not just on shared history, but also on a future of cooperation and mutual respect.

"As neighbouring countries, we are bound by culture, family, and a shared vision for progress. This celebration is about more than just Saudi unity—it is also about the unity of the Gulf, and we are proud to celebrate with our Qatari brothers and sisters," he added.

The evening’s festivities celebrated not only Saudi Arabia’s storied past but also its dynamic present and ambitious future. Guests were treated to vibrant cultural performances, including the traditional Ardha sword dance, enthusiastically embraced by the audience.

The rhythmic drumming and raised swords reflected the strength and resilience of the Saudi people, while performances by Saudi artists honoured the Kingdom’s rich cultural heritage. A showcase of Saudi crafts and culinary delights also offered guests a taste of the country’s diverse traditions.

A visual presentation highlighted Saudi Arabia’s journey from unification to its current standing as a global economic powerhouse. The presentation underscored the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, focusing on milestones such as women’s empowerment, economic diversification, and the development of NEOM, a futuristic city that epitomizes Saudi ambition.

For many in attendance, particularly Saudi nationals, the presentation resonated deeply as a reflection of the rapid and positive transformation their country has undergone.

Prince Mansour also reflected on the strengthened diplomatic and cultural ties between Saudi Arabia and Qatar. He noted that these bonds have never been stronger, with both nations committed to deepening cooperation across economic, cultural, and diplomatic fields.

The presence of prominent Qatari officials further symbolized the mutual respect and friendship between the two nations. The event embodied the spirit of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), reaffirming the values of solidarity, shared goals, and mutual respect.

As the evening drew to a close, the atmosphere remained vibrant, with guests engaged in conversations and savouring traditional Saudi dishes at the dinner.

The Saudi National Day celebration in Doha not only highlighted the Kingdom’s proud history but also looked forward to its bright future, echoing the ambitions of Vision 2030. For both Saudis and Qataris in attendance, this year’s celebration served as a powerful reminder of the enduring importance of unity in an ever-evolving world.
