Munich: Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has returned to Bayern Munich team training from thigh muscle problems and is set to be between the posts in Saturday’s Bunndesliga topper against champions Bayer Leverkusen. Bayern made the announcement on Thursday after Neuer had trained individually the previous days. He sustained the injury during last week’s 9-2 Champions League win against Dynamo Zagreb and missed the weekend’s 5-0 league win at Werder Bremen. Bayern said that forward Mathys Tel is also back in full training, having overcome back problems. Bayern have had an impressive start under new coach Vincent Kompany and top the Bundesliga with a maximum 12 points from the first four matches. Leverkusen are second with nine points, having suffered their first league defeat in 15 months in late August against RB Leipzig. They won the 2024 title as the first team to go unbeaten over a full Bundesliga season. (dpa)
