The Thiruvalla MarThoma College Alumni Doha Chapter recently hosted a vibrant Onam celebration, emphasising the importance of strengthening friendships and human connections. Renowned Malayalam film producer Santhosh T Kuruvilla inaugurated the event, highlighting how such gatherings cultivate love, joy, and essential human values.

The celebration was presided over by alumni president Anish George Mathew.

In his Onam message, Kuruvilla spoke of the legendary demon king Mahabali Thampuran, noting that true beauty is reflected through selfless actions. Shiju P. R., head of the Malayalam department at Birla School, echoed this sentiment, stressing the importance of sharing joy and compassion with others.

The programme began with a moment of silence to honor the lives lost in the recent natural disaster in Wayanad. General Secretary Nisha Jacob warmly welcomed the attendees, and Vice President Sheela Sunny expressed heartfelt gratitude for everyone’s participation.

The event also celebrated the academic success of alumni members who excelled in their 10th and 12th grades, with gifts presented by senior alumni members Samuel Varghese and Rijo Jacob.

Attendees were treated to a traditional Onam feast, Thiruvathira, followed by cultural performances and traditional games, led by Aanavandi Beats.

The organising committee, including Jacob M Mathew, Jenson Thomas, Sibu Abraham, Roney Mathew, and others, contributed to the event’s success, creating a memorable day of unity and joy for the alumni community.
