QNB, the largest financial institution in the Middle East and Africa, has become the first bank in the Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA) region to launch the latest version of Visa’s Click to Pay service. This advanced payment solution aims to streamline and enhance the digital shopping experience by offering faster, easier, and more secure transactions for consumers andmerchants.

Visa’s Click to Pay service offers a convenient and secure method for consumers to make online payments without the need to enter lengthy card details or passwords. Shoppers can now simply look for the Click to Pay logo on participating websites, and complete purchases quickly.

With the updated version, the process has been further enhanced through the introduction of Visa’s Passkey technology, which is based on FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) standards.

This innovative service allows consumers to authenticate their transactions using biometrics, such as facial recognition or fingerprint scans, eliminating the need for traditional passwords or one-time passcodes.

This new feature aligns with global trends in digital commerce, which emphasize the importance of frictionless and secure checkout processes. By reducing the steps needed to make a purchase, the updated Click to Pay service helps prevent shopping cart abandonment, a common challenge for online retailers. Merchants will benefit from a more efficient transaction process and an enhanced customer experience, likely leading to increased sales and customer satisfaction.

Senior Executive Vice President of QNB Group Retail Banking Adel Al Malki expressed pride in being the first to introduce this service in the region, noting its importance in the context of Qatar’s digital transformation. He emphasised that QNB’s ongoing investments in digital payments ensure both merchants and customers benefit from the latest innovations in the payments industry.

“We are proud to be the first bank in CEMEA to introduce this enhanced solution, reflecting Qatar’s leadership in digital payments. The new Click to Pay service will significantly improve the online shopping experience for our cardholders and merchants,” Al Malki said.

Visa General Manager for Qatar and Kuwait Shashank Singh highlighted that the partnership with QNB brings a revolutionary digital payments solution to Qatar. He praised the service for its ability to meet growing consumer demand for seamless and secure digital transactions, while also supporting Qatar’s National Vision 2030.

“This is not just innovation; it’s a game-changer in digital commerce. We are delighted to partner with QNB to bring Click to Pay with PassKeys to Qatar,” Singh remarked.
