Kickstarting the winter season, Qatar Calendar’s October Edition is set to offer a fun-filled month of entertainment, renowned exhibitions, and cultural experiences catering to all tastes and interests. As the weather cools, residents and visitors alike can immerse themselves in the country’s vibrant culture, sporting competitions, stunning art, and an array of activities available throughout the month.

Commenting on the events, Sheikha Noor Abdulla Al-Thani, head of Tourism Events and Festivals Organising Section at Qatar Tourism, said: "Our newly revamped Qatar Calendar reflects our ongoing commitment to creating the go-to source for everything happening across the country. Whether it’s action-packed sporting events, or immersive workshops, we aim to elevate the leisure experience for both residents and visitors. This October, we’re excited to offer a vibrant line-up, including enticing art exhibitions, the return of the biggest B2B trade fairs, and renowned entertainment.”

Theatre & Entertainment

Theatre enthusiasts can enjoy the Kuwaiti theatrical comedy, The First of Its Kind, running at Katara Cultural Village from October 2 - 9.In addition, A Night of Mozart, conducted by Andreas Weiser, will offer a captivating evening of Mozart’s brilliance onOctober 4at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC) , Auditorium 3. Tchaikovsky’s spectacular masterpiece ‘Swan Lake’ is taking place with the renowned Moscow Ballet La Classique ‘Swan Lake’ on October 18 at QNCC.

Exhibitions

‘The Limits of My Language Are the Limits of My World,’ exhibition is currently on display at the Media Majlis Museum at Northwestern University in Qatar until December 5, showcasing how everyday words and phrases have shaped our cultures. It delves into the theme of influence and its effects when it comes to the Arabic language.

‘Art is About Art,’ curated by Dirk Van Lierop and Alejandra Barillas in partnership with the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, features five prominent artists from around the world as they explore how authentic art serves as a medium for connection and a bridge between cultures. This exhibition is taking place at the Fire Station Gallery from September 22 to November 2.

Additionally, the Fire Station is hosting two more exhibitions this month. ‘Eternal Echoes: The Silent Cry of Gaza,’ running until November 2, is an exhibition by Hayat El Yamani, showcasing a series of sculptures that pay tribute to the voiceless children of Gaza. ‘AIR 8: A House Overlooking the World,’ running until December 31, explores the concept of home through the eyes of seven artists who participated in the Artist in Residence programme at the Fire Station Gallery. Meanwhile, M7 will be hosting ‘Ellsworth Kelly at 100,’ from October 31 to February 13, paying tribute to the late artist’s seven-decade-long career.

Three art workshops are taking place throughout the month at the Museum of Islamic Art (MIA). The Kufic Calligraphy (Advanced) workshop, running from October 5 – 26, offers a short course dedicated to further developing calligraphy skills.
