MOS for External Affairs Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh paid an official visit to Qatar from October 1-3, 2024 for participating in the 3rd Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit and the 2nd ACD Business Forum. During the visit, he held bilateral meetings with Qatar’s MOS for Foreign Affairs, HE Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi and ACD Secretary General, HE Ambassador Nasser Thamer Al Mutairi. MOS Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh also met a wide cross section of Indian community during the visit.

In his remarks at the ACD Summit on October 3, MOS appreciated the ACD Forum for promoting regional cooperation and dialogue and reiterated India’s full support and cooperation for the initiatives and work programmes under its six pillars.

He appreciated the choice of the theme ‘Sports Diplomacy’ for the Summit as sports play a unique role in building bridges among nations.

MOS shared India’s perspectives and successes in different areas on the agenda of ACD such as digital public infrastructure, education and skill development, renewable energy and SDGs.

MOS also expressed deep concern at the deterioration of security situation in the West Asia and called for restraint and addressing issues through dialogue and diplomacy.

In the ACD Business Forum, MOS highlighted India’s economic growth and attractiveness for foreign investment. He also shared India’s perspectives on advancing trade and commerce partnership among ACD countries.

Qatar’s MOS for Foreign Affairs welcomed MOS Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh to Qatar on his maiden visit. MOS thanked the Qatar side for the warm hospitality.

Both the Ministers reviewed the areas of bilateral cooperation between India and Qatar including high-level visits, trade and investment, and people-to-people relations.

MOS Shri Kirti Vardhan Singh congratulated ACD Secretary General HE Ambassador Nasser Thamer Al Mutairi on assuming his position and assured India’s full cooperation in taking forward the cooperative agenda of ACD especially in fields such as S&T, AI, investments and culture.

MOS paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his 155th birth anniversary in a function held in Embassy of India on October 2. He also planted a sapling of Neem plant under the Ek Ped Maa ke Naam initiative. MOS attended a luncheon meeting hosted by the Indian Business and Professionals Council (IBPC) on October 2 in which he encouraged IBPC members to further promote bilateral economic and commercial relationship. He addressed a large gathering of Indian community on October 3. He appreciated the contribution of the Indian community in advancing India-Qatar relations.
