Following the electrifying success of the Sarah G x Bamboo concert last April, Qatar is gearing up for another mega Filipino concert this December.
The iconic Eraserheads will be rocking the Doha stage as part of their ‘Huling El Bimbo’ World Tour 2024 on December 13, 2024 at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).
To be presented by Visit Qatar and organised by Qabayan Radio, Qatar’s only Filipino radio station, this much-anticipated concert is poised to make history once again and promises to be a landmark event for Filipino music lovers in Qatar and the wider region.
The announcement was made on October 3, during a media event held at the dusitD2 Salwa Hotel.
According to Salim Kainikkara, Managing Director of Qabayan Radio, “We have high expectations that the Eraserheads concert will not only match but surpass the success of the previous Sarah G and Bamboo concert, further cementing Doha’s reputation as a cultural and entertainment hub. This extends beyond major Filipino artists to include internationally renowned performers, marking a significant moment in the city’s cultural landscape.”
John Martin, Event Manager of Qabayan Radio, addressed the audience, sharing that the Qabayan team has been meticulously planning this concert for months to ensure the success of this highly anticipated performance by Eraserheads in Doha. “We are committed to making this another historic event for the Filipino community in Qatar,” he stated.
Formed in 1989, the Eraserheads is one of the Philippines’ most iconic rock bands, often seen as pioneers of Pinoy rock and alternative genres.
Regarded as the Filipino equivalent of The Beatles, the band shaped the 1990s sound with music that resonated with Filipino youth. Their lyrics, rich in social commentary, captured the struggles and aspirations of a generation, blending Western rock influences with Filipino culture.
With hit songs like ‘Pare Ko’, ‘Alapaap’, ‘Magasin’, and the timeless ‘Huling El Bimbo’, the Eraserheads’ music became anthems that transcended generations. Their tracks not only dominated local airwaves but also played a significant role in revitalizing the Philippine music industry.
Their return to the international stage is celebrated as a testament to their enduring influence and the golden Pinoy rock era.
