The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Doha LLC (G) recently held its inaugural CMA Reunion Night on September 5, at the Sapphire Ballroom, Centara West Bay Hotel & Residences in Doha. The event gathered professionals who have passed the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) exam, as well as those currently pursuing their CMA journey.

The evening began with a warm welcome from Kathryn Joyce Fajardo, CPA, CMA, PICPA Doha President, who set the tone with inspiring opening remarks about the importance of unity and professional growth within the CMA community.

A lively dance performance by PICPA officers added a fun touch to the formal proceedings, delighting attendees.

The event was organised by dedicated PICPA officers, including Kaiser Sevillano, Effie Sevillano, Rowena Cahintong, Maria Irene Laforteza, and Keziah Ola Sadiwa, who worked tirelessly for its success, and Marivel Pagayonan and Pilar Ditablan who made their invaluable contributions to the creative design.

A key highlight of the evening was the inspiring presentations from two guest speakers. Asham Almasri, CIA, CMA, CFE, and IMA President of the Doha Chapter, captivated the audience with his talk on “Enhancing Professional Success Through Emotional Intelligence,” emphasizing the role of soft skills in leadership and career growth.

In addition, Fernando Tayag IV, CPA, CMA, CIA, and PICPA Doha CMA Review Director, presented the “Change Management and Adaptability in Finance,” offering insights on leading change initiatives, adapting to new technologies, and driving innovation in financial processes.

After the inspiring talks, the event transitioned to the awards ceremony, where PICPA Doha CMA facilitators received plaques of appreciation for their invaluable contributions to the PICPA Doha CMA Coaching Program.

Certificates were awarded to partial passers, recognizing their dedication in passing one part of the exam. Full CMA passers were honored with plaques for their exemplary competence and perseverance in achieving the globally recognized CMA designation.

Special CMA Outstanding Awards were presented based on voting and deliberation: the Leadership Excellence Award to Lory Joy G. Alvarez, EMBA, CPA, CMA, for her impactful leadership in the CMA profession and PICPA Doha; the Distinguished Service Award to Jehmar R. Tabili, CPA, CMA, CFC, CTT, MRItax, CFRMC, CPFAcc, for his exceptional contributions; and the Achievement Recognition Award to Fernando Tayag IV, CPA, CMA, CIA, CRMA, CFE, for his performance and innovation in maintaining the high standards of PICPA Doha.

The evening peaked with the announcement of the Star of the Night Awards, determined by popular vote, presented to Renz Jayson Nava, CPA, CMA, and Pia Vergara, CPA, CMA.

Rowena Cahintong, MBA, CPA, CMA, PICPA Doha Vice President, delivered closing remarks, after which attendees got a chance to connect, share experiences, and inspire one another in their careers.
