On the sidelines of the ACD Business Forum, Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani met with Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chairman Chandra Prasad Dhakal to explore ways to strengthen economic and commercial ties between Qatar and Nepal.

The meeting was also attended by Qatar Chamber Board Member Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, FNCCI Executive Committee Member Manoj Poudel, and Director General Gokarna Raj Awasthi. Both parties reviewed the existing trade and investment cooperation between the two countries and discussed potential areas of growth, focusing on the role of the private sector in driving trade exchanges. They also examined the investment climates in both countries and identified opportunities for mutual benefit.

A key focus of the discussions was the Qatar-Nepal Joint Business Council, which is co-chaired by Sheikh Khalifa and Dhakal. Both sides stressed the urgency of identifying council members from Qatar and Nepal to activate the council’s role in fostering collaboration.

The council is envisioned as a platform to bring business owners from both nations closer together, facilitating continuous interaction and enabling stronger trade and investment ties. It will also promote cooperation in sectors such as technology, services, and industry.

The meeting concluded with both sides emphasising the importance of the council in boosting bilateral relations, particularly through direct engagement between the business communities of Qatar and Nepal.

It was agreed that the Joint Business Council’s first extended board meeting would take place in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen economic cooperation between the two friendly nations.
