DOHA: Minister of Education and Higher Education HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi ahs expressed her pride that Qatar, represented by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), is celebrating World Teachers Day, under the wise leadership that spares no effort in providing support for the development of education, and prioritizes support to teachers as the country's most valuable resource.

In a speech she delivered during the ceremony held in celebration of World Teachers' Day celebration, the Minister of Education and Higher Education congratulated all teachers on this occasion, stressing that they are the pillar of the educational process and the cornerstone of the progress of societies.

Addressing the teachers, she emphasized that the celebration on this special day highlights their invaluable efforts and expresses deep appreciation for the significant contributions made to the development and progress of the country. She also expressed the ministry's great pride in the dedication and commitment shown by educators, as well as their tireless efforts in inspiring students and their crucial role in building capabilities and shaping personalities.

In line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and the third Qatar National Development Strategy (NDS3), MoEHE has paid great attention to the teaching profession, recognizing the great place of this profession, she added, pointing out that this was reflected in a strategic project that encourages Qataris to choose the teaching profession under the slogan 'The future of our children is in your hands'.

In a related context, she highlighted the ministry's keenness to support teachers' capabilities through its various training initiatives and programmes, such as "Khebrat" (Experiences), "Tamheen" and "Successful Start", within the framework of investing in human resources and building national cadres to lead educational work in the State of Qatar.

She indicated that the ministry recently launched the second version of the "Experiences" program, to include new specializations to develop the capabilities of teachers in the fields of technical and vocational education, business administration, and information technology. It also launched the "Tamkeen" training pathway under the "Tamheen" program, with the aim of qualifying administrators working in government schools and the Ministry to join the teaching profession, in order to expand the scope of benefiting from national competencies in the field of education, she added.

In her speech, the Minister of Education and Higher Education explained that statistics indicate a significant increase in the number of Qatari students joining the "Tomouh" scholarship program in the field of education, as the number of applicants this year reached approximately 400 male and female students. This cohort also witnessed a remarkable participation of male students. She said that the Ministry is still continuing its efforts to attract and retain distinguished teachers, and to motivate young Qatari high school graduates to move towards educational university majors, which qualify them to join this noble profession.

The Minister of Education and Higher Education concluded her speech by expressing gratitude to all teachers for their dedication to educating and nurturing children. She highlighted the vital role teachers play in achieving the goals of the Qatar National Vision 2030, emphasizing that promising generations are shaped by creative and committed educators who understand the significance of their mission. Special recognition was given to teachers with over twenty years of experience, who were honored for their invaluable contributions.

MoEHE celebrated World Teachers' Day, which falls on Oct 5, under the theme 'Generosity Yields Generations'.
