Qatar hosted the 11th meeting of Senior Officials Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Economic and Development Affairs Authority today in Doha. The gathering brought together undersecretaries from the ministries of finance and economy of the GCC member states, with the aim of advancing regional economic cooperation.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Undersecretary for Economic Affairs at Qatar’s Ministry of Finance Saud bin Abdullah Al Attiyah. In his opening remarks, Al Attiyah extended a warm welcome to the attending dignitaries and delegations, emphasising Qatar’s commitment to fostering collaboration among GCC nations. He stressed that the meeting is crucial for furthering financial integration and shaping a unified economic model within the Gulf region.

The agenda of the meeting focused on several key topics related to the ongoing stages of economic integration within the GCC. Discussions revolved around governance frameworks for joint Gulf economic and development initiatives, updates on the implementation of these initiatives, and the work mechanisms necessary for executing the Gulf economic model.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the timeline for building a cohesive and sustainable economic framework for the GCC, aimed at strengthening regionalcooperation.

The outcomes of the meeting are expected to accelerate the progress of strategic economic projects and enhance the coordination of development initiatives, positioning the GCC as a robust, integrated economic bloc.
