London

Brighton & Hove Albion produced a brilliant second-half comeback with three goals in 18 minutes after going two goals down to stun Tottenham 3-2 in an entertaining Premier League encounter on Sunday.

Spurs had taken a 2-0 lead going into half-time through Brennan Johnson and James Maddison at Amex Stadium.

However, Brighton instantly responded after the break and Yankuba Minteh pulled one back just three minutes into the second half with his first Premier League goal.

Georginio Rutter then drew level 10 minutes later before Danny Welbeck’s header completed a fantastic turnaround for the Seagulls.

Chelsea’s winning league run was ended by 10-man Nottingham Forest who battled to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues needed a brilliant solo equaliser from Noni Madueke to cancel out Chris Wood’s goal early in the second half.

Chelsea then looked likely to go on and win when James Ward-Prowse was dismissed for handling the ball as Nicolas Jackson threatened to race through on goal, but Forest survived a frantic 13 minutes of stoppage time to leave with a point after a mass melee broke out.

Manchester United battled for a goalless draw at Aston Villa that may have bought time for under-fire manager Erik ten Hag.

Bruno Fernandes hit a 2nd-half free-kick off the crossbar, while Diogo Dalot to produced a key block on Jaden Philogene’s attempt late in the game.

The result leaves United 14th in the table, having only registered two top-flight wins from seven games this season.

Man United battle to

draw at Aston Villa

Manchester United battled for a 0-0 draw at Aston Villa on Sunday.

The Red Devils only have two wins to show from their opening seven Premier League matches but Sunday felt like it alleviated some of the pressure that had been building ahead of the international break.

In truth, both sides underperformed having been involved in energy-sapping European matches, with Villa nothing like the side that beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday.

Bruno Fernandes sent a second half free-kick off the bar as United sought a winner that so nearly went Villa’s way in stoppage time, only for Diogo Dalot to produce a key block on Jaden Philogene’s attempt.

Nottingham Forest grab draw against Chelsea

Chelsea’s winning run was brought to an end by 10-man Nottingham Forest who battled to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge to maintain their own strong start to the season.

Enzo Maresca’s side were chasing a fourth victory in a row to shore up their place in the top four but needed a brilliant solo equaliser from Noni Madueke to cancel out Chris Wood’s goal early in the second half.
