Doha Bank has announce its sponsorship of the "First Annual Finance Researcher Award” in collaboration with Qatar Finance and Business Academy – Northumbria University. This initiative highlights the bank’s commitment to fostering a strong research culture in Qatar, particularly among Bachelor’s and Master’s students in fields related to the financial and banking industry.

Doha Bank Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO) Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Fahad bin Faisal Al Thani emphasised the importance of supporting young national talents in the financial sector. He said, "Our sponsorship of this competition is part of our ongoing commitment to invest in the next generation, equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary for future success in the banking and financesectors.”

Qatar Finance and Business Academy CEO Khalifa Al Yafei welcomed the partnership, stating that the award will inspire innovation and encourage rigorous research. "This collaboration will play a pivotal role in nurturing future financial experts who will shape the dynamic and evolving finance and banking industry in Qatar,” he said.

As the global banking industry faces rapid technological advancements, there is a growing need to understand and adapt to these changes. Doha Bank believes that scientific research is essential in helping the Qatari financial services sector capitalise on future opportunities while overcoming emerging challenges.

The competition’s organising committee will invite universities across Qatar to nominate Bachelor’s and Master’s students to submit their dissertations or research projects.

An independent panel of judges will evaluate the submissions based on academic rigor, with winners and runners-up receiving certificates and cash prizes.

Notably, there will be a special award for the best research project by a Qatari student, recognizing and celebrating local talent in finance research.
