The National Sports Day Committee on Monday announced the launch of “National Sports Day Award 2025” for government and private entities, aiming to honour the various entities that contribute to promoting the culture of practicing sports and physical activity among their members.

Abdulrahman bin Muslim Al Dosari, Advisor to the Minister of Sports and Youth and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the State Sports Day, stressed that the award comes in appreciation of the efforts made in organizing sports events throughout the year, and in line with the vision of the National Sports Day, which seeks to make sports a sustainable lifestyle.

Al Dosari explained the conditions governing the Sports Day Award, the most prominent of which is that participating entities promote their sports activities via social media using the hashtag #In_Time and the hashtag #Sports_Is_Life, in addition to referring to the country’s Sports Day account.

He pointed out that participating entities must document all events by taking clear photos and videos, with the aim of publishing them on the entity’s social media accounts to increase awareness and stimulate community participation, in addition to filling out the event form available on the Ministry of Sports and Youth website, including event details and the number of participants.

The advisor to the Minister of Sports and Youth stressed the need to adhere to the implementation of security and safety requirements in all sporting events, including providing medical teams, securing the place, and ensuring the safety of the equipment used.

He explained that the points for the award will be calculated based on four main axes, including the number of organised events, the number of event days, the number of participants, and the number of participants from the entities in the Sports for All events calendar.

Al Dosari called on government and private entities and commercial companies to participate in the National Sports Day Award and contribute to promoting sports and physical activity in Qatar.

Regarding the preparations for the National Sports Day 2025, the Chairman of the Organising Committee for the Sports Day pointed to the positive impact that this annual event has had on spreading the culture of sports among members of society, as the number of sports practitioners has increased to 28 percent this year compared to 11 percent in 2011.

He explained that the number of people interested in practising sports in the country has increased significantly and exceeded the desired annual target by 6 percent, as the strategy adopted in this regard aimed to reach a rate of 36 percent by the year 2030, which reflects the success of the policies, trends and efforts made in this context.

Head of Activities and Events at the Qatar Sports for All Federation Abdullah Al Dosari reviewed the federation’s calendar for the coming period, which includes 750 sports events. They are offered free of charge throughout the year to various members of society.

He noted the sports infrastructure provided by the state, which facilitates the practice of sports for all groups and in all climates, calling for taking advantage of the sports and recreational activities provided by the federation, which would contribute to improving the health of individuals, strengthen social cohesion among members of each institution, and improve the psychological welfare of every sports practitioner.
