DOHA: The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has launched its Corporate Strategic Plan (CSP) under the slogan 'The 1st Choice for Our Community's Health', which represents an important stage for the PHCC and is in line with the Third National Health Strategy, as well as the Third National Development Strategy.

The PHCC's Corporate Strategic Plan was launched at a ceremony that was attended by Minister of Public Health HE Dr Hanan Mohammed Al Kuwari and senior officials in the health sector.

In her speech during the ceremony, PHCC managing director Dr Mariam Ali Abdul Malik said that the launch of the third Corporate Strategic Plan is a pivotal moment in the PHCC's work journey, which has witnessed developments since its establishment through the first strategy (2016-2019) and the second (2019-2023), as it continues to address various national and international health challenges in line with the local and global health trend.

She added that scientific studies and reports have proven that the primary healthcare system is the most effective, comprehensive, and fair in ensuring better health outcomes for communities, compared to other health systems.

She pointed out that in Qatar, one of the indicators of success for health sector institutions in general and primary healthcare, in particular, is that the average life expectancy of the population is witnessing a continuous improvement. In return, there is a continuous readiness to face future health challenges in the coming decades, as the health of the population may be negatively affected due to the change in their lifestyles, especially with technological progress that reduces physical effort.

Dr Mariam Ali Abdul Malik indicated that all the cadres of the institution are constantly working to accomplish achievements in the health sector in general, as well as building on the successes achieved by the PHCC in particular during the past decade and within the framework of previous strategies, as it has proven its ability to withstand crises and challenges and skillfully overcome the obstacles imposed by the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as efficiently meeting the requirements of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

She pointed out that the PHCC has witnessed a dynamic development and has become a successful model in providing first-class healthcare services to all citizens and residents in the State of Qatar, which has led to its international recognition and its repeated obtaining of the Canadian Diamond accreditation, and its obtaining the Government Excellence Award in Leadership in Human Capital Development, and first place at the state level in the national cyber maneuver.

The 3rd Corporate Strategic Plan is based on key pillars such as Qatar National Vision 2030, as well as the Third National Health Strategy. These strategies focus on several axes for the health sector, the most important of which is focusing on population health, setting ambitious goals to improve health outcomes, improving the quality of health services, and facilitating access to them for patients, in addition to a renewed focus on sustainability in the services provided. These axes have been integrated into the institution's new plan.

The PHCC continues to support priority population groups at the national level, with its services aligned to meet their needs, giving them additional attention. The focus is on enhancing innovation in delivering community healthcare, integrated health services, and emphasizing preventive health.

Its strategic objectives address the health needs of these priority populations, which include children and adolescents, women and pregnant individuals, employees, mental health, improving the health of individuals with multiple chronic conditions, the health and well-being of people with disabilities, and the health of the elderly.

During the launch ceremony of the Corporate Strategic Plan, Executive Director of the Strategy Planning and Health Intelligence at the PHCC Dr Mohammed Ghaith Al Kuwari presented a comprehensive vision of the new strategic framework of the PHCC 2024-2030, where he reviewed the new vision, mission, and values of the corporation, and the process of transitioning from the previous vision, mission, and values during 2019-2023.
