Pakistan Arts Society–Qatar, in collaboration Pak Shamaa School (PSS) Qatar, organised a career counselling session for students seeking admissions in medical and dental colleges in Pakistan.
The guest speaker at the session was Prof Dr Faisal Izhar, Vice Principal, Fatima Memorial Hospital, College of Medicine and Dentistry, Lahore. Senior faculty member Muzzafar Hussain compered the event.
Dr Izhar shared his knowledge and experience with the students and explained the structure of medical and dental education, including undergraduate programmes, postgraduate specialties, and the various fields within medicine and dentistry. He emphasised the significance of choosing the right specialty
based on personal interests and strengths.
The session included a segment on the interview process, where Dr Izhar shared tips on how to present oneself confidently and effectively during interviews. He explained the importance of communication skills, articulation of thoughts, and the ability to demonstrate a genuine passion for the respective field.
Dr Izhar stressed the importance of long-term career planning, urging students to consider their future goals and the various career paths available within the medical and dental fields. He encouraged students to seek mentorship and networking opportunities to enhance their career prospects.
Following the presentation, a lively Q&A session was held, where students eagerly posed their questions to Dr Izhar. Topics ranged from specific admission queries to advice on managing stress during the application process. Dr Izhar addressed each question thoughtfully, providing practical advice and encouragement.
