The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), HE Dr Ibrahim bin Saleh Al Nuaimi, emphasised Qatar’s commitment to enhancing the role of artificial intelligence (AI) as a crucial tool in achieving the Qatar National Vision (QNV) 2030. He was addressing the 21st Annual Meeting of Science and Technology in Society (STS) Forum held from October 6 to 8 in Kyoto, Japan. He highlighted AI’s importance in realising the country’s economic, social, human, and environmental development goals.

Dr Al Nuaimi pointed out that Qatar is leveraging AI to boost its digital economy, enhance economic diversification and transportation efficiency, and produce world-class AI applications that enhance education for its citizens. He stressed that science, technology, and innovation are essential pillars of progress and prosperity, and that a skilled and adaptable workforce is critical to keeping pace with the rapid advancements in technology.

Leading Qatar’s delegation to the forum, Dr Al Nuaimi noted that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s 2024-2030 strategy, under the slogan ‘Igniting the Spark of Learning’, aims to develop an integrated educational system that fosters creativity and innovation, preparing future generations for successful professional careers. This strategy is a roadmap for building a sustainable, knowledge-based future, strengthening Qatar’s innovation-driven economy, and empowering future leaders.

In conclusion, HE Dr Al Nuaimi emphasised that transformative policies in science, technology, artificial intelligence, and innovation are crucial and require collective commitment, cooperation, and the courage to embrace change. He further highlighted the importance of investing in inclusive education, cooperation, infrastructure, and sustainability to create an innovation ecosystem that drives economic growth and ensures a better future for all.

The STS Forum, held annually in Kyoto, promotes global cooperation in the fields of technology, science, and innovation, exploring ways to achieve sustainable development goals through technology transfer and the exchange of expertise.The forum offers a unique platform for open discussion and debate among participants on initiatives and ideas in these fields.

Dr Al Nuaimi also took part in the Science and Technology Ministers’ Roundtable, held alongside the STS Forum.
