The Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) in cooperation with the Qatar Boxing Federation will hold the first edition of its Community Boxing Championship on Friday at the Oasis Square in Mall of Qatar.

This championship will be held from 4-7pm, with the participation of three age groups: Juniors (15-16 years), Youth (17-18 years) and Men (19-40 years). The championship will also include competitions and prizes for public and children.

Salah Al Saadi, Assistant Director of the Sports Events Department at QOC, said that the committee aims to hold this community event to spread the concept of sports for all and build bridges of communication between different segments of Qatari society and residents of the country, embodying its vision: "Let us be a pioneering nation that unites the world through sustainable sports development.”

Al Saadi added that this sport is the key to self-confidence and self-control and helps increase muscle endurance and relieve stress and has many health and physical benefits.

The championship is part of the 2024 community events agenda organized by the Qatar Olympic Committee to raise awareness of the importance of sports for all and to introduce boxing as one of the self-defence sport.

The Qatar Olympic Committee’s calendar includes more than seventy local and international events in the sports season, which confirms the importance of Doha as the capital of world sports.
