Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers Qatar Chapter (PICE Qatar) held a two-day symposium on Construction and Project Management at Wyndham Doha West Bay Hotel recently.
Around 102 civil engineers from different countries working in Qatar took part in the event aimed at shedding light on the different aspects of construction management, documentation and records during the tender, mobilization, construction and handing-over stages.
The event was awarded with a seven (7) Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Units by the Professional Regulation Commission Civil Engineering Professional Regulatory Board (PRC CE PRB), which is required in the renewal of professional licences in the Philippines.
Eight professional civil engineers and specialists were tapped by PICE Qatar as resource speakers for the symposium to share their field of expertise. They were Jeffrey P. Cimagala (Concept Design), Asuncion V. Lopez (Project Procurement and Cost Estimating/ Construction Contract Administration), Elvin D. Fajutagana (Construction Project Management/ Practical Cost Control), Nasser K. Sanoh (Materials Management), Meliza M. Ortiguerra (Health and Safety Management), Alfonso Belito C. Betita (Quality Assurance and Quality Control Management), Vanessa M. Malaluan (Time / Schedule Management) and Celso F. Burog (Project Handover).
PICE Qatar President Aileen A. Buenaflor hailed the first symposium as a success. She thanked all the members of the board of directors, the organizing committee and the resource speakers for their hard work and sacrifices to stage such a technical event. She also thanked the members for actively participating in every PICE Qatar programs. Buenaflor encouraged everyone to continue patronising PICE Qatar's event as they are carried out for the benefits of all the members.
Meanwhile, a separate conferment Ceremony for ASEAN Engineer was held at the same venue after the symposium. Philippine Labour Attache to Qatar David Des. Dicang was the guest speaker.
The rites was attended by 70 participants that saw the conferment and entry to advance level engineer by 18 AER (ASEAN Engineering Register) and three Associate AER (AAER). The list includes Newcesar T. Templonuevo, Michelle A. Samuel, Marcel G. Ramos, Edmedio R. Ebarle III, Edgardo M. Crispino, Ryan G. Cerezo, Sheila L. Medel, Loraine C. Radan, Jeffy F. Amorosa, Virgilio B. Lacbayan, Christine D. Diosan, Dario Gaudencio P. Lagamon, Meliton M. Rizal, Edwin S. Bautista, Danilo L. Chan, Joel G. Bahalla, Elmer M. Ngoho, Bernard Y. De Vera, Teresita E. Pagar, Julius C. Berioso and Rogel B. Banal.
Romulo R. Agatep, AER Country Registrar, led the charging of the new AERs and AAERs while Philippine Technological Council President Federico A. Monsada initiated the oath-taking and awarding of certificates and medallions.
