The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) Doha was recognised as a supporting organisation by Earthna Center for a Sustainable Future during Qatar Sustainability Week 2024.

In collaboration with Qatar Foundation, PICPA Doha’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) team, led by Chairman Effie Sevillano and Associate Volunteer Jeremy Santiago, hosted a tree planting event on October 3, at Education City.

The event saw support and participation from esteemed guests, includingAmbassador HE Lillibeth Pono and Vice Consul Atty. Jeffrey Batac from the Philippine Embassy in Qatar.

Volunteers planted approximately 400 seedlings, contributing to the enhancement of Education City’s green spaces.

PICPA Doha President Kathryn Fajardo emphasised the event’s alignment with Qatar’s vision for sustainability, reinforcing PICPA’s commitment to environmental stewardship.

"Together, we have made a significant contribution to our environment, demonstrating our collective effort towards sustainability,” she remarked.

CSR Chairman Effie Sevillano stressed the importance of tree planting for environmental preservation, recognising Qatar Foundation’s pivotal support in making the initiative a reality.

Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata, Executive Director of Earthna, emphasised the critical role sustainability plays in ensuring long-term progress. He stated, "Sustainability is the ability to be sustained, which means having the ability to progress. Without it, our progress faces serious risks. Initiatives like Qatar Sustainability Week play a crucial role in highlighting the importance of maintaining this focus. By protecting our environment, we are not just looking after today—we are securing a vibrant future for generations to come. It’s a powerful reminder of our shared duty to safeguard and nurture our planet.”
