As a part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of M.E.S Indian School, an inter-school musical reality show was organised in collaboration with Radio 98.6 at the school conference hall.

The competition commenced on September 19 with the members of the school Governing Board inaugurating the event in the presence of Meghna Surendran, a renowned social media influencer and singer, who served as the special guest.

The first round featured performances in three categories – melody, fast song, and semi-classical renditions. Out of the 23 participants who showcased their talents, 15 were selected to proceed to the next round.

On the second day, the participants performed melodies, while the third day was dedicated to fast-paced numbers. Both days were filled with spectacular performances, further narrowing down the competition. After the semi-classical performances, the competition saw eliminations, reducing the number of participants to five finalists for the grand finale. The grand finale took place on 10th October, culminating in an evenly poised musical contest.

Riyas R K, the winner of GCC Best Singer award was the special guest. Acclaimed and noted personalities from the realm of music, including Aishwarya Vaidyanatthan, Manikanda Das and Arvind Kumar judged the performances of the five finalists of the evening.

For her spectacular performance, Vaishnavi from Birla Public School, was declared as the title winner of the M.E.S Golden Tunes Musical Reality Show winning 8 grams of gold as the prize. Pooja Santhosh of Birla Public School bagged the first runner up position securing 4 grams of gold as the prize and Shravya Woody of Doha Modern Indian School bagged second runner up position securing 2 grams of gold.

Samadrita Basu of DPS Monarch International School and Alvia Saji of MES Indian School secured 4th and 5th position respectively winning mementoes and gifts. The felicitation ceremony was conducted after the competition, during which prizes were awarded to the winners and other 10 participants by the directors of the school management.

Additionally, video and written messages from celebrities like Kaithapram Damodaran Nair, M Jayachandran, Madhu Balakrishnan, Sithara Krishna Kumar, Kannur Shareef, and Najim Arshad were conveyed to the participants, further enhancing the prestige of the occasion.

The dignitaries present at the Grand Finale included Kashif Jaleel, vice-president, Ahmed Isham, deputy general secretary, Usman A, Treasurer, M.E.S Governing Board, directors of the Governing Board, Ashraf Sharafudheen P.T, Fasalau P.P, Ansar T.K, Aneesh P.A, Faisal Mayan, principals of expatriate schools, media representatives, school officials, parents and students.

Dr Hameeda Kadar, principal, M.E.S Indian School congratulated the winners and extended heartfelt gratitude to the school management for hosting such a magnificent show – the first of its kind in Qatar.

“The inter-school musical reality show has contributed significantly to fostering unity within the school community, further cementing MES Indian School’s legacy of cultural achievements,” she remarked.

Anvar K and Sumitha Abdul Nassar, cultural coordinators of their respective sections were the general conveners of the event. Members of the Department of Music, Anwar, V P, Kavitha G and Mallika Shaji coordinated the event. Sheza Fathima, head girl and Aryan Unnikrishnan, head prefect introduced the event while Steffi Varghese Mathew and Mohammed Salim welcomed and proposed the vote of thanks respectively for the programme.
