Qatar Chamber (QC) recently took part in the 15th Turkish-Arab Economic Forum (TAF 2024) in Istanbul with Qatar Chamber Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani leading the delegation.

The event, held under the theme "Turkey and the Arab World: A Global Corridor for Investment, Trade, and Technology,” was a collaborative effort supported by several key organisations. These included the Turkish Ministry of Treasury and Finance, the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Investment Office of the Presidency of Turkey, the League of Arab States, the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), and the Union of Arab Chambers.

The forum attracted a diverse range of participants, including ministers, senior leaders from both the public and private sectors, businessmen, investors, and leaders from Arab and Turkish chambers of commerce.

The primary objective of TAF 2024 was to bolster sustainable economic relations between Turkey and Arab nations by promoting Arab economic integration, improving collaboration mechanisms, and facilitating the exchange of knowledge and expertise. The forum also sought to open new horizons for trade and investment, fostering greater growth between Turkey and the Arab world.

A notable feature of the forum was the participation of Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, a Qatar Chamber board member, who spoke at a panel discussion titled "Building a Global Trade Corridor.” Al Obaidli used this platform to discuss Qatar’s trade and investment strategies within the region, as well as the role of Qatar Chamber in advancing regional trade initiatives. He emphasised the strategic importance of fostering trade corridors that strengthen economic ties between Qatar and its neighboring countries.

In his address, Al Obaidli highlighted Qatar’s sustained success in developing strong economic relations, both regionally and globally. He attributed this success to the country’s forward-thinking economic policies, which have resulted in substantial trade growth.

Al Obaidli noted that Qatar’s infrastructure development over the past 15 years, particularly in preparation for hosting the 2022 FIFA World Cup, has significantly contributed to this growth. These efforts align with Qatar National Vision 2030, a long-term development plan aimed at diversifying the country’s economy.

Furthermore, he explained that Qatar has created an attractive environment for business and investment, supported by key economic laws and regulations. Qatar’s strategic relations with countries around the world have also enhanced its trade capabilities.

Al Obaidli underscored Qatar Chamber’s active role in promoting Qatar’s economy and investment climate, reaffirming its commitment to initiatives that strengthen trade relations with both neighboring and foreign nations.

Qatar Chamber has been instrumental in fostering international cooperation by hosting foreign trade missions, organizing business delegations, and participating in international conferences and trade fairs.

Al Obaidli emphasised that Qatar’s investment priorities lie in key sectors that provide significant opportunities for collaboration with Turkish and Arab businesses.

The 15th Turkish-Arab Economic Forum marked another step toward enhancing trade and investment ties between Turkey and the Arab world, with Qatar Chamber playing a pivotal role in fostering these partnerships.
