The India Cup Open Badminton Tournament Season 2, organzied Indian Sports Centre (ISC) concluded with the much-anticipated finals at Beta Cambridge School, Al Meshaf, last Saturday. The event witnessed a huge response from the Indian community with over 500 participants competing across 33 categories, delivering intense competition and exhilarating performances for the audience.

The tournament was graced by former India badminton star Prakash Padukone. The legend’s presence added inspiration to both the participants and the spectators. His Excellency Mr. Vipul, Indian Ambassador to Qatar, was the chief guest and expressed his pride in witnessing the growing enthusiasm for sports within the Indian community in Qatar.

ISC President E.P. Abdul Rahiman also addressed the gathering.

In his remarks, Padukone lauded the participants for their dedication and skill, particularly highlighting the promising talent displayed by younger players.

The event’s success was further accentuated by the performances. The men’s singles title was won by Arjun Shinde who bea Emmanuel Emmy Joseph. In the men’s doubles final, Akshay and Shijas beat Endy Rojak and Jacob Thomas while the Girls U17 crown was won by Anusree Shine defeating Adlyn Mary Sojan. The Boys U17 champion was Pridhav Shyam Gopan, who beat Abhinav Nair. Adam Noujas won the U9 title beating Nivedya Aji.

The tournament brought together a diverse range of players from across Qatar and abroad, making it a true celebration of sportsmanship and community spirit. The Indian Sports Centre is committed to nurturing sporting talent and fostering a healthy lifestyle among the Indian diaspora.

With Season 2 ending on a high note, the Indian Sports Centre said it look forward to continuing its efforts in promoting badminton and other sports in the future.
