Minister of Public Health and Chair of the 71st session of the Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean HE Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari was honoured by the World Health Organization, represented by its Regional Director for the Eastern Mediterranean Dr Hanan Hassan Balkhi, at the end of the session in Doha on Thursday.
Dr Balkhi extended her thanks to the State of Qatar for the good organisation of the 71st session of the WHO Regional Committee for the Eastern Mediterranean, appreciating the efforts of the Ministers of Health, and heads of delegations for their dedication, wisdom, and knowledge.
"The 71st session of the Regional Committee took place from October 14 to 17 at a time when the region is facing an unprecedented series of emergencies: the 12-month war in Gaza, conflicts in Lebanon, Sudan and Yemen, and protracted crises in Afghanistan, Somalia and other countries that are claiming precious lives every minute,” a WHO statement said.
