Beirut - Israeli troops have taken over another town in Lebanon as part of their ground offensive, according to a media report.

Soldiers raised the Israeli flag in the village of Aita al-Shab, the Israeli TV channel Channel 12 reported on Thursday. The station also released a video showing the flag flying on a tower surrounded by damaged and destroyed buildings.

The village is located in southern Lebanon, just behind the line of demarcation with Israel. The information could not be independently verified and there was no official confirmation from either Israel or Lebanon. The Israeli army releases little information about specific troop movements.

However, Channel 12 is considered reliable thanks to its good contacts with the Israeli military. Last week, the channel broadcast a video showing Israeli soldiers planting an Israeli flag over ruins in the town of Marun al-Ras. (dpa)
