Qatar Chamber (QC) Chairman Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani led the chamber’s delegation in Istanbul for key meetings of the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Development (ICCD). The delegation attended the 37th Board of Directors meeting, the 40th General Assembly, and the 3rd Executive Committee meeting.

Alongside Sheikh Khalifa, Qatar Chamber board members Mohamed bin Jawahar Al Mohamed, Abdulrahman Abduljaleel Al Abdulghani, and Abdulla bin Mohamed Al Emadi participated in the meetings.

The meetings primarily focused on strengthening economic and commercial ties among Islamic countries. Topics discussed included proposals to establish institutions for women’s economic empowerment and entrepreneurship, as well as the ICCD’s bid for general observer status at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).

Additionally, the meetings reviewed objectives for a halal strategy aimed at enhancing trade in Islamic markets.

In his remarks, Sheikh Khalifa praised the vital role of the ICCD in promoting economic and trade cooperation among Islamic countries. He highlighted the significant natural and human resources that Islamic nations possess and emphasised Qatar’s support for initiatives aimed at enhancing economic partnerships among them.

He stressed that building strong partnerships and effective trade agreements would help Islamic nations improve their competitiveness on the global stage.

Sheikh Khalifa also noted that these joint efforts not only contribute to economic growth but also strengthen cultural and social ties, benefiting the peoples of these nations.

He further reaffirmed Qatar Chamber’s commitment to supporting all efforts to boost cooperation between member chambers and to increase intra-trade among Islamic countries, which currently remains below potential.
